As an educator and leader, Darrell Naylor-Johnson has a long-standing commitment to academic and civic communities. He earned a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and an MFA from Pennsylvania State University and has been a significant presence at SCAD since 1992. He has served in various administrative roles such as Professor of Foundation Studies, Dean of the School of Fine Arts, Assistant Vice President for Academic Services, Vice President for SCAD eLearning (SCAD Now), Interim Associate Vice President for SCAD Atlanta, and his current position as Vice President for SCAD Savannah.

In the Savannah community, Naylor-Johnson has been involved with the West Broad Street YMCA, Beach Institute African American Cultural Center, and the Georgia Department of Children and Youth Services. His work underscores a deep commitment to both education and community development. Presently, he serves on the Board of Visit Savannah, the Mayor’s REAL Taskforce, the Hilton Head Island and Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, and is as a member of the vestry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
