The Current’s Editor-In-Chief, Margaret Coker, will delve into the outcomes of the November elections and what they mean for the state and Coastal Georgia. From shifts in political dynamics to the impact on local communities and policy directions, she will discuss voter turnout, civic engagement and key issues that matter to the Peach State.

Margaret Coker began her two-decade journalism career at Cox Newspapers before joining the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. During that time she covered stories from 32 countries and 4 continents.

She has won numerous national journalism prizes for investigative, business and diplomatic reporting as well as feature writing. She led a team of Wall Street Journal reporters named as finalists for the Pulitzer Prize in International Reporting in 2017.

Margaret is the author of “The Spymaster of Baghdad”, a nonfiction book of Iraqi patriotism in the battle against Isis. She speaks Arabic and Russian. She came home to Savannah in 2019 to launch The Current to revive an investigative news culture in Coastal Georgia and mentor a new generation of journalists in our region.

Join us for what will be a very informative and interesting presentation.

Please bring your personal water bottle to Abigails events. Plastic bottles will no longer be available.
