Join the Skidaway Abigails on September 12th when we welcome Maria Center, Executive Director, and Kelly Crane, Disaster Program Manager, of the Southeast Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross. They will present a current overview of the Red Cross, their response to the climate crisis, and important information regarding hurricane preparedness.
More frequent and intense disasters are devastating communities as a result of our changing climate. This takes a disproportionate toll on families who face socioeconomic challenges in our community. In response to this need, the Red Cross has initiated an innovative approach to provide additional support and resiliency in Chatham County. And it is vital for all residents of coastal Georgia to take adequate steps to prepare for the potential threat of a hurricane.
As the Executive Director of the local chapter, Maria Center has been with the Red Cross since 2020 and serves on the Leadership Team of the Georgia Region of the Red Cross. She holds a BFA from the University of Georgia and is a graduate of Leadership Savannah.
Kelly Crane joined the American Red Cross in 2022. She is certified as a Georgia Emergency Manager, Georgia Heritage Responder, and Associate Disaster Manager with the Red Cross. Kelly is a board member and current president of The Coastal Empire Disaster Recovery Committee. She has worked extensively with volunteers and led response teams along the East Coast.
Join us as we take steps to preserve our environment. Please bring your personal water bottle to Abigails events. Plastic bottles will no longer be available.
