Abigails October Program - The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire

Jill Cardenas, Executive Director will speak about the The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire which helps individuals or groups resolve conflicts using a neutral mediator who works to keep the focus on reaching workable agreements.

Unlike court cases, mediation is confidential and scheduled at the convenience of the parties involved. Parties also maintain control of the solution including the nature and scope of their agreements. Mediation is an opportunity to save time, money, and possibly even a relationship.

Over the last twenty years, the Mediation Center has trained over 180 volunteer mediators, conducted over 8,000 mediations and facilitated nearly five thousand settlements. Emphasis remains on safety, healthy communication, connection, and access to justice by reducing the burden of litigation (time and expense) on the local court system.

Jill has agreed to meet with us after her presentation to discuss ways we ourselves could use Restorative Spaces to resolve issues and disputes within our organization, our community and in our relationships with people who have different views from our own.
