Beginning in November and continuing through February, the monthly group, The America We Need, will discuss the international bestseller by Ibram X. Kendi, How To be An Antiracist. Susan Terrio will lead the meetings held on the third Friday of the month. This book has been described as a 21st century manual of racial ethics and a critical guide at a time of persistent racial injustice in employment, schools, housing, policing, and government. Dr. Kendi is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities and Founding Director of the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research. He is the youngest recipient of the National Book Award for his 2016 nonfiction book, Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America. In 2020 Time Magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

The assignment for the first session is to read the Introduction and Chapters 1-4.
